MailChimp Import App Reviews
Once you figure out how to get the API key this works great. From your Mailchimp account, go to “Account Settings”, “Extras”, then click on “API key”. Click the button that says “Create API key”, make a label for it, then cut and paste it into the ap when it asks for it. It took me a while to research and figure this out which is why I only gave it 4 stars. They really need some instructions! Also make sure you click the box at the bottom left of the app that says “Yes, these contacts have opted-in to my list”. Hope this helps.
This definitely speeds things up for me with my newsletter list management, but I would love the ability to also remove contacts from a list as well. Perhaps a sync feature. This is how it would work: I have a contact group for my newletter recipients. When I want to remove a contact from the list, I simply delete them from the group. Chimport then (on-demand) can sync the updated group list and remove any from the Mailchimp list that I’ve deleted from my contact group. 5 stars if you could do this!
Like some others, here, Chimport isn’t working for me. Yes, I have the API key, which I’ve entered. I select the contacts to be exported, confirm that they’ve opted in, then I initiate the transfer. I get a window that asks, “Are you sure? You’re about to export n contacts to MailChimp. I confirm the choice, and then I wait. Several seconds later, the app appears to return to its default state. But when I check Mailchimp, NOTHING has been imported. I’ve tried this several times, including logging out and back into both Chimport and Mailchimp, but nothing ever gets imported. I’m not a novice. It simply seems to fail to work. BTW i have almost 4,000 contacts in Address Book. I wonder if the others for whom the app’s not working might also have large contact lists. (Large for an individual, that is.)
Worked perfect
It was really easy & worked perfectly. You can edit your list in Mail Chimp afterwards as well.
I really want this to work. And I can’t find a place to contact chimport privately (service personnel please contact me). But I am continuously getting the null error (the one the update describes as being fixed). I don’t understand according to the reviews (some as recent as May 2014) why it works for some people and not others? Is it because I have the latest Mac software 10.9.3, and supposedly the last update was for 10.6? Please advise.
By following the instructions from one of the reviewers, I was able to import a subset of my Mac contacts in no time. Great job. I had the new list imported in 5 minutes.
Cant get it to see my contacts
I accidently chose not to allow it to view my contacts. Now I can’t redo the setup. Unistalled and reinstalled and still the same issue.
When I try to import, it thinks that there are two entries for every one contact I select. At the bottom it reports two errors messages per contact, but doesn’t reveal the supposed errors. And how do you get to support?!? What a disappointment. So simple a task and so frustrating a result.
I’ve used this app before to import contacts, but unfortunately it no longer works. It reports that null values are being reported and Mailchimp doesn’t report that I’ve added any subscribers. I am using the API key correctly.
I was having the same issue as many on the post… Did the correct API, etc… What finally fixed the import for me was systematically going through the my list and importing by groups. Group 1 - All ‘A’s; Group 2 - All ‘B’s; Group 3 - All ‘C’s… Etc… I finally found the group and contact where it was erroring out. Not sure why it was but try by groupls and see if it works. Rated 3 Stars because it definitely needs directions and better messaging for errors.
This app stopped functing once I installed the new Yosemite operating system. It will not sync individual names/email addresses or allow me to highlight an entire list of names/email addresses and sync them. Basically it needs an update. Please fix it because I really find this app helpful.
Worked well
Just used it to pull in a few specific lists from my mac contacts. Only aout 120 subscribers total, but it worked perfectly. I’m on OS 10.9.5
This used to work great until I upgraded to Yosemite. Now it has numerous problems, it doesn’t open its window without double clicking the app icon twice, it doesn’t remember your log in which it used to, it doesn’t close the log in window when you open it. Trying to select multiple names to export doesn’t work anymore. I found this a great too until my upgrade to Yosemite. I re-downloaded and re-installed, I delete the preference file, all to no avail. I’ve been in contact with the developer, but they claim they can’t reproduce the problem.
This is the ONLY app that worked with ease for me for exporting my Contacts! I purchased several others, and all were unclear with little to no support. Wish I’d found this sooner! It works great.
Won’t function at all. Essentially frozen upon opening. This was never the problem until I upgrades to Yosemite, and give this app is 3 years old, I think we need an update.
The buttons in this app only work randomly. After entering API key and clicking save, window freezes although api loads, cant access the app any longer. Save button in API window doesnt work sometimes. Basically a really wonky app that is not at all intuitive. I guess thats why its free.
Just a few clicks and I imported all of my students’ and parents’ emails from OSX Contacts for my MailChimp class newsletters. I’m running Yosemite on a two-year-old MacBook Air.
This app used to work great, I loved it! Since switching to Yosemite, Chimport does not open properly and I can no longer select multiple contacts to add to Mailchimp subsclber lists. Very frustrating, Looks like I’m not the only one with this issue. Would greatly appreciate either a fix or a workaround solution so I can love it again! Thank you.
Same issues reported by other users. You can’t select more than one contact at a time. Took lots of tries to get it to log in using the API key. Doesn’t appear when you open it unless you click on the icon in the dock a few times. There’s no help feature.
UPDATE PLEASE
This app is not working with Yosemite. Really not looking forward to imorting contacts manually.
